Recently I had been to Digha, a seaside town of Bengal. In fact, This was the first time I had been to a seaside town. I boarded a local train and reached Howrah. From there, I took another train to Santragachi. From there, I boarded the Digha express train. I was accompanied in this journey by my parents. We had pre-reserved seats. It was probaly 8:15 in the morning. The air conditioned compartment was like a paradise on wheels, specially after the strenous journey for about two hours in local trains. We reached Digha at about 11 in the morning. In our three-hour long ride, we met with an O.C. of the Digha Police station on board. We did not have any pre-reserved hotel to put up at, which was like a black cloud in our clear sky on thrill and enjoyment in the ride. But that man helped us greatly. He called up a hotel from the train and got a room on the third floor reserved for us. That afternoon, most of the time, I spent on the balcony admiring the sanguine beauty of the boundless deep ahead. That day, we didn't find ourselves in the sea water. The next day, we changed our hotel and put up at a hotel near old Digha. That was a room on the ground floor. Having brushed and taking our breakfast, We went splashing into the saline water. We had a nice time letting ourselves on the waves. We were like toys to the huge sea. She tossed us on her water. In the afternoon, we went to Shankarpur, another seaside town near Digha, famous for fisheries. There I had the chance to watch a soap shooting. The whole beach was full of crabs, who use to reside in the sand of the beach. But, the most memorable thing I saw in Shankarpur was the erosion of sea water. Large trees and embankments were being built all along the shore. Returning, I had a very special experience of having a ride on a motorised van. It was great to see such huge trawlers standing on the ground at Shankarpur. The next day, we had to return back with an unforgetable memory of my first visit to a seaside town. Till now, they rise upon my inward eye whenever I lie on my couch in vacant or in pensive mood. And then my heart with please fills and lets me wonder, what wealth the sea to me had brought.

The drowsy desire of viewing the vast vista of my homeland has been within me since my childhood...........But very recently, when I was reading a travelogue about ancient foreigners who came to India, named "As they saw India", that desire made me feel her presence within me and I thought to get out exploring my own country..... And in this effort, I have visited many places of India..... I set this blog to share some of the descriptions of those places with the rest of the world...... Keep visiting this blog to know more about my experiences during my hover round India.......
